Meeting with Sri Lanka's Prime Minister

A team from Oxigen UK had a meeting with Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Mr Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka in Colombo on 19th June, 2009.
It was an opportunity for Oxigen to brief the PM on Oxigen's Plantations at Puttalam and Welikanda and to outline plans for further projects. Mr Wickramanayaka has extensive knowledge of growing tropical timber, having been Minister for Plantation Industries in the 1970s and Agriculture in 2005. In the context of a discussion on inward foreign Plantation in Sri Lanka, Mr Wickramanayaka commented: "We are on the same wavelength."
The Prime Minister is also highly involved in the conservation of the Asian elephant in Sri Lanka, and was interested to hear about Oxigen's sponsorship of two orphaned elephants at the Elephant Transit Home at Udawalawe.
